Description

Left to right, Unnamed ODST, Syko, Jett, Sassif [[link] ], Ace[Alex], and Clay [[link] ]

This is just to show that I am still alive here at dA, and to show off some stuff I've been working on for a while, namely the Reach styled ODST on the left, Syko and such.

It is hard to believe now, but I was one of the original holders of the model when it was first leaked, my source will remain confidential, not that it matters anymore, you can find the download over at Gary's mod.org and Halomaps. My first ever true sneak peek at the spartan model is here [link] This image was uploaded quite some time before the pack was released, so this is proof I've had this before that mass upload. I've had the textures long before the game came out, primarily most of it from the beta, all extracted through the use of an experimental tool called Ascension.

As one of the original holders of the model, I was the one who actually contributed to this little project in our circle, I re-textured some Halo 3 perms to fit Reach textures, namely the far left ODST's helmet, chest and shoulders. Some very accurate models I picked up off a sketchup file, made by a fella named StealthSP2, go check out his work on Google warehouse, he's got some really cool stuff.

And some stuff I made, namely the arm for Ace and the mark V helmet, UA multithreat chestplate and shoulders, chest canisters, grenade belts, the helmet addons [NOT COUNTING SASSIF'S, It is MICKEY'S helmet attachment from ODST] and the shoulders for the spartans, all by simply cutting them out of the actual textures and welding them together like pepekura. The earliest model in here is the combat knife, what you see is a second revision. Up to today, I am still working on additional perms at the moment, my current projects at the moment are the Grenadier helmet and Tactical hardcase. Carving the models from the texture may sound easy, but really, this is an art that is not easy to master, Not that I have mastered it yet, I'm still learning.

I had some help in this, a friend of mine was able to retexture some of the helmets I found to fit Reach's textures, which I really appreciate, in fact, I appreciate the help I've had from everyone in putting this together.
The rig you may find is set up for animating, not for game development unless you wanna work with nodes and link constraints.

I will not name the one responsible for the upload to Halomaps.org, but if we don't get anymore official retail content from my source in the future because of that kid, then you can blame that little punk for releasing it too early, cause we wanted to develop this model till it had EVERYTHING in it, and he may have fucked up that only chance for everyone out there. This stuff is like a cake, you need to wait till it finishes baking, you don't take it out before it finishes, all you'll get is a half cooked mess, and you may never get a chance to do it again.

Maybe some day I'll have the green light to upload my exclusives to the public one day, and maybe you may get the official retail stuff instead.
Back then, Halo 3 models and such did not start appearing until almost a year after the release of the game, so I don't expect there to be a whole lot released anytime son, Reach uses a similar, but much newer engine code, so I am very certain that it is going to be a bit more timely, unless these fellas understand it better.
